Keeping Our Church Communities Safe

At All Saints Network, we want our churches to be welcoming, safe and inclusive places for everyone, especially children and vulnerable people.

Safe Church Communities screening and endorsement helps us ensure that people serving in our churches are appropriately supported, equipped and endorsed for their roles.

How do we determine the level of endorsement required?

The level of Safe Church Communities screening and endorsement required depends on the nature of each role and the opportunities it provides for interaction with children and vulnerable people.

The Anglican Diocese of Tasmania also sets out requirements and guidelines for Safe Church Communities screening and endorsement. All Saints Network follows these requirements when determining the appropriate level of endorsement for each role.

Any role that enables a person to exercise authority, power or control over a child or vulnerable person, or to develop trust or intimacy with them, should require a high level of Safe Church Communities endorsement.

This ensures that our screening and endorsement requirements are proportionate to the level of risk associated with each role.

Levels of Endorsement

The level of endorsement required is determined by the responsibilities and nature of your role, not simply by whether you are a paid staff member or a volunteer.

Some roles may involve regular interaction with children or vulnerable people, while others may involve greater levels of responsibility, privacy or influence. Each role is assessed accordingly.

Our aim is to ensure that everyone serving in our churches is appropriately screened, supported and equipped to contribute to a safe and healthy church community.
